Sacandaga Task Force for Senior Living

Description:

     The Sacandaga Task Force for Senior Living is an independent council of citizens interested in attracting or developing Senior Living services and facilities to our area. It is a grassroots effort dedicated to community enhancement and the well-being of our Adirondack society.

Activities:

Red Rooster Cafe, corner of Bridge and Main Sts., 113 N. Main St.,, Northville

     Seniors meet here around noon on Thursdays for lunch and a program.

     A meal is provided by Fulton County Office of the Aging (OFA). A $3.00 donation is suggested or you can bring your own lunch.

     To order a lunch call OFA at 736-5650 by Wednesday afternoon.

     The program begins at 12:30 p.m.

 

Need A Handyman?

     Call the Task FOrce answering service at 863-4040, Ext. 42. Leave your name and phone number and mention you are looking for a handyman or woman. Your call will be returned within a day.

 

Need a Ride?

     The Wheels Program can help you. Call 863-4040 Ext 42.  Leave your name and phone number and we will call you back to schedule a trip.

 

Trips

     A minibus is scheduled to go on trips to malls, museums and local social events twice a month. Call 863-4040 Ext 42. Leave your name and phone number and we will call you back to work out trip details.

 

Other Activities

     Conducts targeted surveys to determine interests and needs; flu clinics and diabetes clinics; exercise classes;; etc.  The STFLSL has formed collaborations with the Village of Northville, the Northville Rotary, the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network, the Sacandaga Seniors and the Wells Seniors.

 

Senior Housing

     Bringing Senior housing to the Sacandaga Valley has been one of ithe Task Force's top priorities and it continues to seek help to reach this goal.  Anyone interested in assiting STFSL with this goal, please call 863-4040 Ext 42 and leave your name and number and a board member will call to discuss your interest.
