Description:

     The Town of Wells Highway Department is responsible for a total of 68.64 miles of road.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilites include:

  • Maintenance and repair of both paved and gravel town roads.
  • Paving, blacktopping, and sealing roads.
  • Maintenance of ditches, drainage.
  • Brush trimming.
  • Snow and ice removal. The Town of Wells contracts with Hamilton County for snow and ice removal on all county roads in Wells.
  • Culvert placement/maintenance.
  • Maintains the condition of all equipment under his jurisdiction.
  • Ensures cemeteries, parks, and town properties are kept neatly trimmed and mowed. 
  • Supervision of the employees of the department.
  • Maintains records of all equipment and the crew.

Programs/Activities:

ANNUAL TOWN WIDE SPRING CLEAN-UP 

The Highway Department conducts an Annual Spring Clean-up week in May.
